Sweet Treat for Mother's Day - April Creative Club

April Creative Club
Sweet Treat Box
Thursday, April 19 - 6:30 p.m.
$10

Join me on Thursday, April 19 to make this darling little milk carton and Mother's Day card using the Dotty for You papers! Aren't the papers fun and springy? We'll use a spray pen to color the milk carton, add some pop to the flower using an adhesive spring, and create a scalloped border with a corner rounder. You won't want to miss the fun, so reserve your spot by April 7.

Studio J Saturday - Splash Zone Layout

Ahhh - summertime! I don't know about you, but some warmth and sunshine sounds pretty good to me about now. These cheerful papers (members-only Studio J papers) are perfect for pictures of days at the beach or pool.

To add the brads around the title, I used the copy and paste feature. I placed one brad, hit "copy," "paste," then dragged the brad where I wanted it. By using the snap-on feature, I get a visual of whether the brads are lined up. I continued around the top of the oval, changing the colors of the brads as I went. To add the same effect to the bottom part of the oval, I selected all the brads by holding down the "CTRL" key while I selected each one. Then I used copy and paste to create a duplicate, rotated it, and dragged it to the bottom. Perfect!

Studio J Saturday - Dreamin' Layout

This page celebrates the relationship between a son and his dad. The colors in Dreamin' worked beautifully with the colors in the photos. I added distressing to give it some dimension.

Celebrating a new arrival

We're having a baby shower for a co-worker tomorrow, and I needed a card to go with the gift. Since the baby is a girl, I knew "Lucy" would be a perfect paper for the card! The card pattern is "Little Squares" from Originals. The little cut-out window is so fun!

Items used to make this card:

How-to Book: Originals
Paper: Lucy Level 2 Paper Packet
Stamp sets: New Arrival, Baby Steps (retired)
Embellishments: Pear Mini-Medley (retired), mini safety pin (retired)

Studio J Saturday - Class Act Layout

One of the great things about having a Studio J membership (3-month or 12-month) is that you gain access to exclusive, members-only paper packets and layouts. Class Act is one of the members-only paper selections. I love it for school pictures, obviously! The bright colors are awesome, but if they don't work for your photos, you can change the colors easily. Select the paper you want to change by clicking on it. This will bring up a menu. From the part where it says "Paper," select the color you want. So easy!

Happy Easter to My Peeps!

I have been waiting to use this super-cute stamp set for some time. I love the saying "Happy Easter to My Peeps!" and the darling little "peep" stamp. The Mojo Monday sketch gave me a perfect opportunity to play!

I used some fun items on this card. One of my favorite new products is the Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon. You can color it using markers, inks, or reinkers, or you can stamp on it like I did. So easy and fun! Another cool new product is the Adhesive Spring. It comes in a package of 6 and is what pops up the peep. Do you love the shape of the card? It's one of the new Colonial White Die-Cut Cards which come with coordinating envelopes. The scalloped edge folds over where the card opens.

Here is a close-up of the ribbon.

Studio J Saturday - Believe

Here's another Christmas layout using Believe. I pretty much stuck to the layout provided, but I used Stickease for the title. The "Believe" Stickease and the swirls Stickease are separate. I made the swirls appear to come from behind the title by dragging them where I wanted them placed, right-clicking and selecting "Send to back," then right-clicking again and selecting "Bring forward." Sending it to the back puts it behind all paper layers; bringing it forward moves it up one layer.

I'm lovin' Lucy!

This sweet paper packet is perfect for a birthday card for someone special. I love the soft colors in "Lucy!" When I saw this week's Mojo Monday sketch, I immediately pictured a flower pot on the front of the card. Love how it turned out!

Can you guess which shape on the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge I used to make the flower pot? I adapted the present by making a few small adjustments! First, measure in 1/2" from each side and draw a line up to then part that extends slightly at the top. Cut along each line.

Cut off the bow at the top - instant flower pot! I used the gray wool marker to shade it just a little because it looked too flat.

The flowers are the Paradise Paper Flowers, and the leaves were cut using Art Philosophy. I attached them to a small piece of cardstock so a little message could be pulled out like this from the flower pot that is raised a little using 3-D foam tape --

The center of the flower is CTMH baker's twine, coiled on a glue dot. After taking these pictures, I decided the center needed a little adhesive pearl.

Of course, the inside needs to be pretty, too!

The sentiment was double-stamped: first, in first generation Cotton Candy ink, then in second generation Gray Wool, slightly offset to give the illusion of a shadow. I love the look!

Lucy Workshop on the Go

I love the soft, sweet colors of the Lucy Workshop on the Go. They are perfect for pages about little girls, Easter, or spring. So sweet and feminine! Remember, too, that each WOTG comes with an exclusive C-size stamp set, available only with the Workshop on the Go.

Love the little banner, which is the bonus project! To make the banner, you just need two additional items: Bitty Buds Assortment and My Creations Mini Banner. The flowers are cut using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

Studio J Saturday - Waiting for Santa (Believe)

It doesn't get much cuter than a little boy waiting for Santa! The "Ho ho ho" paper from Believe seemed perfect for this layout. The cute little Stickease are the perfect touch. I used the Quick Title Tool to add "Waiting for Santa." It is so easy to make it the exact size needed. I also rotated the title.

When Mike's mom finishes the journaling for this page, I'll add the cardstock to the page. Since it will cover a little of the printed brads, I'll add the real thing to give it some dimension. I love making hybrid pages with Studio J and traditional scrapbooking!
